It is true that beauty ​comes from the inside out!  And yes...that means that your overall health is reflected through your skin. Your skin is your body's largest organ and it has the very important job of eliminating toxins from your body. Though your skin serves as a barrier, what you put on your skin can be absorbed into your body. This is why it is vital to pay attention to the health and beauty products you put on your skin. Ideally, if you had proper nutrition, hydration and exercise, it is unlikely that you would need skin care products at all! However, poor digestion and vitamin/mineral absorption, too many environmental stressors, and a lack of healthy bacteria in the gut can leave our complexion and skin less than glowing. Furthermore, when our other elimination organs become overloaded with environmental chemicals and toxins, our body may eliminate them through the skin causing conditions such as acne, psoriasis, and eczema. It is easy to see how maintaining healthy skin is more than just what products you use on your body and face or healing from the outside in. Using natural skin care products is a good step toward leading a healthier lifestyle and being mindful about the choices you make with regard to your health. I take care to find ingredients that are free of unnecessary chemicals and additives, and use organic ingredients whenever I can. Many of the herbs I use in my skin care products are grown right in my garden, like this beautiful calendula flower.


As you begin to pay closer attention to what eat and

what you put on your skin, I encourage you to experiment with creating your own

healthy bath and beauty products (It is fun!).  But feel free to try mine!
